The bond between a human and pet is a strong one, and Jogs for Dogs needed an app & website that connected the two every step of the way.

My Role

I joined Jogs For Dogs as the CDO just after the initial community marketplace platform went live. At the time, the system and its associated elements of website, searchable database, runner app and owner app were functional at a product level but lacked an attractive and functional user experience. My main goal was to rethink the user experience from the inside out, begin with synthesizing the brand and expanding to all digital touchpoints of the user’s journey through finding a runner and booking a jog.

CONNECT OWNERS WITH A RUNNER NEAR THEM

Location was key, owner’s wanted someone who was near-by in both an on-demand capacity and an ongoing client/service relationship. From the runner’s side, they didn’t want to travel too far. It was important that we were connecting potential clients with runners in their location from the get-go.  


Learn More About Runners

Trust is key, especially when it comes to people’s pets. The original searchable website did not easily highlight runner’s stats, info and credentials. I reengineered the UX of the profile to be dynamic and instantly accessible from the search results.


EXPEDITE THE BOOKING PROCESS

With the original platform, there was not managed process for connecting with a runner after you searched. We recognized in early user testing that owner’s became very unclear on the next step after finding a runner, especially if it was the first time booking with Jogs For Dogs. We created a “Meeting & Greet” guided process to solve this.

After a connection has been made, it is all about maintenance. It was important that the process for owner’s to manage their portfolios and make bookings was as seamless and the first point of contacts

Understanding the runner

The second piece to this puzzle was the runner. Their immediate needs in the user process were very different from that of owners. Runner’s main pain points revolved around the physical steps involved in the client relationship, and managing the run itself. We created the Runner Companion App to provide runners with a tool for organizing their jogs, a guide for each run, a way to track and share their run with owners.
